Virtues of Surah Fatiha
Abu Saโid Ar-Rafi bin Al-Muโalla (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (๏ทบ) said, โShall I teach you the greatest Surah in the Qurโan before you leave the mosque?โ Then he (๏ทบ), took me by the hand, and when we were about to step out, I reminded him of his promise to teach me the greatest Surah in the Qurโan. He (๏ทบ) said, โIt is โAlhamdu lillahi Rabbil โAlaminย (i.e., Surat Al-Fatihah) which is As-Sabโ Al-Mathani (i.e., the seven oft- repeated Ayat) and the Great Qurโan which is given to me.โ

The meaning of this Islamic phrase is, โIn the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Mercifulโ. Itโs recited by Muslims daily for many different occasions. The most common place youโd hear Bismillah Hir Rahman Nir Rahim being recited is before reading the Holy Book (Quran). Itโs also said during obligatory prayers (salat) before Surah Fatiha but it is Sunnah that this be recited silently in the readerโs head.
